Let's see.... 9. No surprise what so ever... his stuff is basically fetish fighter schoolgirl manga anyway. 8. Not a surpise either... except the fact he's still doing underground stuff. 7. Gay loving fangirl makes money and obsesses over her own characters? This is normal in Japan! 6. A pleasant surprise... and actually didn't have any idea about... that's why those characters look so familiar... errr I mean, interesting. 5. "Honestly Diane, I'm surprised." Also, I loved his pokemon series... I also see he must of been too busy with ANAL JUSTICE to continue them. ...Is dat sum delicious flat chest? Too bad we never got to see him get around to Dawn.... BA-Zing! 4. It all makes sense now. I love Hellsing. -_- 3. ...!? 2. I'd be more surprised if anyone that saw the promotional posters and art for the 1st GitS didnt know he enjoyed drawing this kind of stuff. 1. fffff-what?! They saved the best and most shocking for last! Genius... hey does anyone else think that girl kinda looks like Osaka?? Oh god... Azumanga's ruined forever. Or.... is it? ~_-

Only one that caught me off guard was #1, but that's just cause I didn't realize his pen name, real name connection.

The biggest irony in this post is that I haven't been here for the past year and post I see on the first page is about this, which is practically my job over the summer...
Been living in a circle's workshop for several weeks and going back and forth, first time ever going to a convention and went as a circle member. First 5 minutes was me wanting to hide under the table that I'm selling h-manga, but in the end I got over it and it turned out to be pretty fun. Met lots of artists I saw in DeviantArt as Pixiv as well as many I know known through manga, one of them was even published in Jump for an one shot. Used our circles books to trade for some books and also spent my entire savings down to last dollar on doujinshi that I didn't have money to take the train back home. Had to use my mother's credit card for that... -__-
Well, just saying that considering the circles I've been visiting, most mangaka starts as a h-artist for a circle or just hobby selling and get scouted in convention by companies and editors. That said, those weeks were brutal, I went from a fear of women completely from just touching to in workshops buried with h-manga...
Anyway, main reason for posting is to ask you guys about the US conventions. 3 of the mangaka and I struck a deal and I'm bringing some postcards they drew and printed to sell in a convention to test the waters on how much Americans are willing to accept anime products by Asian artists. Now since I don't know a damn thing about US or conventions, I'm asking you guys whether you know anything about it. I'm not bringing much, just 10 sets of (4 cards in a set) Madoka and original (5 cards in a set) cards and 30 sets of 3D Madoka cards all by different mangaka. I was asked to try and sell it in US conventions, they all used different pen names differing from their usual name this time, wanted your help in finding out small conventions to test the waters.
Lastly, on a totally random note. Eric, my 2Dcon has been cured completely when I shook Ai Nonaka's hand and told her I loved when she played in Madoka. Though after 3 secs of seeing her face to face I was pushed away by the ten thousand other otaku waiting in line to meet her. hahaha.
ahhh... back to US next week, how little I want to go... Wish I can just stay here, but I have to serve the mandatory service since I was born on 1990, missed the 1991 cut... OTZ
Edit: To clarify, we picked out stuff that wasn't erotic in any way to bring to US. Since we're worried that US conventions may be against pornography (never been to an US convention), that's why we only have a little box pack of postcards to test it out. Can someone tell us the cost and location of the convention nearby? If possible Eric, could you accompany me to the next small US convention since I feel highly uncomfortable around lots of white people. (Not being racist or anything, just feels nervous surrounded by lots of foreigners, some company with familiar people would be nice.)

Sounds like a good time you've had this summer. Congratulations on getting over your 3d pig disgusting viewpoint.
Well The WCU Anime club usually goes to a smaller scale convention (at least at this point in time) so you should be able to go with some group members to that effect. I'd say you'd be better off at a medium size convention though like Katsu, or something. As for me accompanying you, I don't mind but since I'm currently in Job Hunt mode, it means that I probably won't be to guarantee anything. I'm sure Jim, John, Rin and Ginger wouldn't mind helping you out though. I have a korean friend who is an artist and has become rather successful at conventions, so I could possibly introduce you to her If she happens be be attending.
